Since his move to Hamblen County Gibson's work has been shown in several exhibits in Hamblen County and surrounding areas. He is very proud to have one of his paintings shown in an exhibit at the Knoxville Museum of Art.  His paintings have been accepted into many, different juried art shows and have received several awards.  He has been a very active member of the Morristown Art Association for several years.  He has held several post in the M.A.A. and served on many committees. He has been a member of Rose Center in Morristown, Tennessee for many years and for several years has conducted monthly workshop in acrylic painting at Rose Center.  He also teaches art classes at two other places.  Mr. Gibson enjoys the adventure of teaching art very, very, much!

Gibson's work is quite varied; he uses many different mediums and his style of painting has been described as "Imaginative Impressionist".  A challenge Gibson faces as an artist is he is colorblind.  Fellow artist have said it gives his work individuality.  "Some colors look the same to me.  I have trouble identifying the color if I mix more than two or three colors together.  I have to be very careful with my art.  I see colors but I'm not quiet sure if it is the same color everyone else is seeing.  Most of the time I don't worry about it and enjoy the process of painting," states Gibson.  He also states, "I like for people to relate to my work in their own personal way.  Most of my paintings tend to be very colorful and vibrant.  I hope the viewer will be drawn into my art and have their own interpretation of what they see and feel.  I want my artwork to evoke different emotions.  I paint everyday and enjoy the serenity it gives back to me."
